Engage/Events
UPDATE: DC/Adapters events are HERE! The State of D.C. is an interactive arts workshop that foregrounds flag adaptation for advocacy and activism.
Upcoming:
- New dates coming soon
Completed (2025)
- Rhizome Gallery, July 19, here
- Kramer Books, September 9, register here
- DC ART NOW gallery opening, September 11, (https://dcarts.dc.gov/exhibitions/dc-art-now-2025)
Over the years, I've experimented with pushing beyond the documentation that defines DC/Adapters. How can this project grow to encourage people to participate in flag adaptation and in so doing maybe even make life in the District a little more just and beautiful than it already is?
Consider engaging with and contributing to DC/Adapters:
- Watch Downloading Statehood, my short video about D.C. flag adaptation and imagine how you can use the flag to argue for statehood.
- When you're out and about, and you see an adapted flag, take a photo and share it with me by using the form on this site (Contribute an Item).
- Contact me if you have ideas for this project or collaborations.
- Stay tuned for a forthcoming events series at venues around D.C.!
- If nothing else, become more sensitive to the visual language of D.C. — or your city or town if you live somewhere else — and consider how that visual language can be a force for good.
